Welcome to the AGLT Newsletter - April Edition! ☀️

April has shown us that an old saying is true, because March rains have left behind an explosion of color and flourishing projects in every GLT! After a period of "watering" our ideas, this month we collected the rewards of our enthusiasm and enjoyed the first truly sunny days. 🌷

The spirit of the Easter holidays brought us together, giving us the opportunity to prepare our communities for moments of peace and joy. It was a month of regeneration, where we felt our energy grow alongside the rising grass.

The moments that set everything in motion were the Animation Workshop in Dăeni, where creativity felt right at home, and the completion of the AGLT Annual Report for 2025. It gave us the chance to see, in black and white, the impact of our work and to take pride in everything we built together over the past year. 🎬

Dăeni Animation Workshop - 2026

The magic of the Dăeni Animation Workshop continues in 2026!

Between April 4th and 7th, 80 volunteers participated to the Dăeni Animation Workshop 2026, an edition full of energy and color! Volunteers from across the country had the chance to go through a program full of new activities and forge new friendships, successfully strengthening the GLT network. 🌐

The three days were intense, featuring power games, team-building exercises, an expedition into the village to connect with the Dăeni community, and many other surprises! 🎁

See you in 2027 for a new edition! 🚀

🤝 Project carried out in collaboration with the Dăeni Middle School.

This is how APRIL went for our GLT’s:

GLT “Corabia Piraților” Tulcea

In April, one of the most interesting activities was the Easter Workshop, organized on Thursday, April 2nd, at a kindergarten in Tulcea. Alongside the little ones, we put our creativity to work and painted Easter eggs, which the children took home to decorate their holiday baskets. With a splash of color, good vibes, and paint, we created projects full of life. 🌸

On April 25th, 2026, we organized a special activity dedicated to children that combined three different workshops: dance, creation, and AGLT-style games.

In the games workshop, children learned to cooperate through play. The dance workshop provided a boost of energy with AGLT dances and other styles, while the creation workshop showcased the children's imagination through a world of color.

AGLT Volunteer of the month

Dear readers,

We have some great news for you! Starting with our next edition, we are launching a special challenge : "AGLT Volunteer of the month."

We know how much love you put into every activity, so we want to shine a spotlight on those young people who transform their communities through play and active involvement.

Each month, the most active volunteer, the one who has gained the most volunteer hours in the previous month, will earn a special spot in our newsletter.

For every winner, we will reserve a place of honor where we’ll feature a photo of the Volunteer of the Month along with a short testimonial about their experience, their motivation, and their favorite moments from our activities.

The chance to be featured is in your hands! All you need to do is stay active within your GLT and ensure your name is included in the activity reports.

We can’t wait to discover your stories and see who will kick off our very first edition!

Good luck to everyone and... always love AGLT! 🌟

“Oameni de Succes în AGLT” - where we highlight the best people in AGLT

I joined AGLT after a classmate came to our geography class in 2017 to present her experience from the Dăeni exchange. I was in the 6th grade, a very well-behaved, straight-A student, but I wanted to test my limits, and sleeping in a school for 3 nights sounded tempting. So, I signed up. At Dăeni, we had 2 animators who knew exactly how to pass on the AGLT spirit, so much so that I left with only one plan in mind: I wanted to keep going.

From that year until now, I haven't missed a single Exchange at Dăeni. Whether as a participant or a trainer, I was there. That place is like a charger for my spiritual battery, right after winter passes—an event where we play non-stop. How great is that!

So, in 2017, I went to Muncel camp to take the Beginners' course. There were only 3 boys from Tulcea, who also happened to be my best friends. The camp was amazing! I learned so many new things and made new friends, some from other parts of the country, who are still very close to me today. My trainers were two very nice girls who made sure that when I left Muncel, I would go home and organize play days.

Back in Tulcea, within our GLT, the 3 boys fresh out of camp had big plans: school partnerships, play days, recruitment—all checked off in less than a year, which led to us being elected coordinators.

In 2018, I decided to go all out: Team & Spirit course at Muncel (the exact moment I fell in love with that course) and Team-Building course at the Dăeni tent camp. It was awesome. That was the year I met the trainers who have become some of my best friends today.

I joined the board in 2019 after the national camp where I did Games & Adventure (I wasn't selected for TOT course that year because I wasn't ready)—a year that wasn't exactly pleasant for me. I didn't accomplish much in the board, so I stepped down at the end of my term.

Then the pandemic hit, and I participated in all the online events, but it just wasn't the same. However, in 2021, I was called to the TOT course, which absolutely made my summer better. It was the greatest AGLT experience I’ve ever had. I found out later that I only got in as a backup: someone had dropped out, so they called me. TOT is never about a team, instead it’s about individual development. However, all of us participants were such good friends that alongside the heavy theory sessions, we shared some of the longest laughs an AGLT group had ever seen. Shall I tell you how I completely ruined the final session? I ruined it, but I was paired up with my friend from the beginners' course, and she saved the day. Still, I joined the board at the end of the year, and I've remained active on it ever since (5 years now).

In 2022, I had my first camp where I taught my very first course: Beginners. It was incredible! I had participants who are now (or have been) active on the Executive Board, some who became trainers, and others whom I ended up having in every single one of my groups. The following year, the camp was at Poiana Căprioarei, organized in two series. And I attended both: In the first series, I taught the Team & Spirit course. It was a dream of mine to finally teach that course. It didn't turn out exactly how I wanted, but it got done. The next series was Beginners, alongside a fellow trainer with whom I shared the best chemistry I’ve ever had. In 2024, we returned to Muncel and I taught Team & Spirit again, which went much better than the first time, even though I was incredibly nervous because, between the two of us trainers, it was my first time being the experienced one.

At the second board meeting in 2025 (exactly one year ago), I found out before everyone else which group I would be leading at the next camp. I know, it wasn't exactly fair, but I needed to know ahead of time. I was going to teach the TOT course, a very important course for those who wanted to become trainers, and harder than any other course I had taught before. Still, it was a success, and the trainers left that camp eager to have their own groups the following year.

Within the board, I spent almost the entire time in the projects department, mostly handling the organization of the Dăeni event and the Camps. I was also part of organizing the 20th Anniversary Gala, the place where my path in AGLT took an unexpected turn. During the discussions at the Gala, someone said, “Stand up if you have traveled abroad with AGLT.” Many people stood up, except for me. I was indeed a big traveler back then, but I had never traveled with AGLT. So, I decided to change that as quickly as possible.

AGLT received an invitation to send a representative to the FIMCAP General Assembly in Georgia. They needed someone to actively participate in meetings, submit motions, and work on regulatory amendments, so I went. I didn't know much about FIMCAP, other than the fact that AGLT pays some fees to be a member and that it is divided by continents. I was very pleasantly surprised by how prepared I actually was for that GA. There were elections for both the European and the intercontinental presidiums. For FIMCAP Europe, two seats in the presidium remained vacant, and a few new friends from there kept encouraging me to run for one. We agreed that I would think about the offer and get back to them at the next Bureau Meeting if I decided to do it.

I made up my mind and ran. I didn't give the best speech—again, I wasn't having my best day (I was on vacation in a beautiful little village in France, losing time with their meeting). But the people who had met me in Georgia knew who I was, so they voted for me. And that's how I ended up becoming the President of FIMCAP Europe, in a presidium that has only been active for a year but is already changing a lot of things. I am still in charge of events, activities, and the trainers' department—essentially exactly what I was doing in AGLT, just at an international level.

My story isn't about a straight path to "success." It’s also about falls and disappointments, shaped by the power to pick yourself back up. The most important thing is not to rush, because you aren't fighting anyone else. Your only "opponent" is yourself, and trust me, you are very easy to beat.

Even though it sometimes felt like my place was no longer in AGLT, that I should quit, or that I wasn't at the right level, I stayed true to the core principle I learned at Dăeni: oriunde, oricând, orice pentru AGLT!
